The Wilbur

Multi-Use Development

General Contractor: Wohlsen Construction

Location: Lititz, PA

Project Description:

This 5-story, 74-room hotel, 26-unit condominium, restaurant, and market complex carries on the heritage of an iconic chocolate manufacturer. Once the booming Wilbur Chocolate Factory complex, dating back more than 100 years, this building was repurposed to become an upscale city center-piece known as The Wilbur.

Quality Buildings was selected as the framing contractor to fit out the 5-story, 74-room hotel and 26-unit condominium, which encompassed three wings. Given the accelerated project schedule, a pre-fab framing kit was essential to meet (and exceed) deadlines. In addition to framing out the condos Quality Buildings added a rooftop terrace to the existing roof, which required reinforcing the existing structure to carry the added weight. Because this particular wing was only four stories tall and attached to the 5-story hotel area, an access walkway from the hotel to the rooftop terrace was also created.

“After almost 4 years, we have completed the Wilbur Chocolate Factory redevelopment project. This adaptive reuse project was a massive undertaking and aligning with capable contractor partners was crucial to the success of this challenging project.

Quality Buildings provided the kind of attention to detail that provided impactful results in the areas of value engineering, quality control, scheduling, providing manpower, and cost containment. Without reservation, I recommend Quality Buildings for any future projects.”
